Green Island is a beautiful 6000 year old coral cay located in the Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, just 27km offshore from Cairns. What makes it so special is that of the 300 coral cays in the Great Barrier Reef, Green Island is the only one with a rainforest.  Green Island Resort is your luxury haven, with just 46 suites that are nestled within the rainforest, cleverly secluded from the day visitor facilities.

Travel to Green Island Resort
Check-in at the Reef Fleet Terminal Green Island Resort counter ready for your ferry departure. Your luggage will be transferred directly to your resort room.  You will be greeted by the Island concierge on arrival.  After check-in you are more than welcome to explore the island and take part in the numerous activities.

Accommodation
Green Island Resort has two styles of accommodation: Reef Suites and Island Suites. All suites are set in clusters under the rainforest canopy and adjoin to the central facilities via raised covered walkways. They are cleverly secluded from the remainder of the island and day visitor facilities..

Reef Suite
The Reef Suites are perfect for honeymoons and special occasions. These split-level luxury suites have a large king size bed, spacious lounge area, separate bath, shower and private balcony.

Island Suite
The Island Suites consist of a spacious guestroom with either twin (double/double) or king bed. Some rooms can be interconnecting or adjoining for families. All rooms have separate showers and bath and a private balcony.

Disabled Room - located close to the reception and restaurant with wider doorways and ramp entry. Bedding is two double beds. There are hand rails in bath and toilet areas, and a fold-up chair in shower. Please enquire for further details.

Sunset Drinks
At 5pm after the day visitors have left enjoy sunset drinks at the jetty with a choice of sparkling wine, beers or orange juice.  Fish feeding takes place from the jetty where you will see many tropical fish and a turtle or two.

Relax and Explore Green Island
Green Island is the only coral cay on the Great Barrier Reef with a rainforest growing on it, which is home to 126 native plant species, colourful birdlife, surrounded by magnificent coral gardens and is some 15 hectares (approx 37 acres) in size.

During the day guests can choose from a range of delicious and affordable meal and snack options from Green Island’s restaurant and food outlets (at own cost).  The resort also offers Island guests special dining packages such as Picnics and Beach Dining options.  

Canopy Grill

Lite Bites

Reflections Pool Bar

Diving and Snorkelling Tours:
Great Diving Adventures offers scuba diving for both introductory and certified divers at Green Island. No experience is necessary to take a fully supervised introductory dive.  Guided snorkel tours are also conducted and are highly recommended. They are a great way to maximise your experience on the Great Barrier Reef. 

Marineland Melanesia:
This amazing nautical museum offers visitors ocean aquariums, marine artefacts and an impressive collection of ancestral images from Asia and the Indo-Pacific. See exciting crocodile shows and hold a baby croc. It is also home to Cassius - the largest crocodile in captivity. 

Seawalker:
For an amazing underwater walking experience, let Seawalker's expert guides show you the wonders of the reef as you stroll along Green Island lagoon's sea floor. There's no equipment to operate, non-swimmers welcome and you don't even have to get your hair wet! From start to finish, the Seawalker experience takes between 45 and 55 minutes.

Getting there:
Green Island is just a 45 minute boat ride from Cairns Reef Fleet Terminal.  These transfers are included and are confirmed at the time of booking. Please allow time to check-in at least 30 minutes prior to departure.
